IP-Atlas vs DB-IP

DB-IP's free Lite MMDB is respected for country-level lookups and open licensing (CC-BY). Their paid tiers scale to €499/mo Enterprise. IP-Atlas competes on a single REST contract, explicit VPN/Tor flags, and published overage rather than annual commitment pricing.

Privacy signals

DB-IP returns a generic is_proxy / is_crawler flag from its Basic tier. It does not split VPN, Tor exit nodes, and residential proxies into separate flags.

IP-Atlas returns explicit is_vpn and is_datacenter booleans on every tier, including Free. Tor exit nodes are covered under is_vpn today (dedicated is_tor flag is on the roadmap).
